British/International A Levels /

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma

Undergraduate Degree (Bachelors Degree)
Other international qualifications such as Australian HSC, US SAT or AP Certificates Undergraduate Degree (Bachelors Degree)
Diploma (from Institutes and Colleges) holders with strong results 2nd year of Undergraduate Degree (Bachelors Degree)

International Foundation Programme

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) enables students that don't have qualifications equivalent to British A-levels to access undergraduate university degree courses. The IFP will provide you with the academic training, language and study skills to start your undergraduate studies with knowledge and confidence and will prepare you for undergraduate study in three ways:
  • by providing academic training in three subjects
  • by developing your English language abilities
  • by enabling you to acquire the study and life skills which you will need on your degree programme. Please see the International Foundation Programme pages for more details.

English Language Requirements

The minimum English language levels for courses at the University of Reading are IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (paper) 570, TOEFL (internet) 88. Some courses require higher levels - you should always check with the department or faculty you are applying to. For more detailed information see the English requirement page.   We offer International Study and Language Institute - English language courses, assessment and consultancy, including English language as well as study skills to help your prepare for our degree programmes.

How to apply

All undergraduate applications must be made through the UCAS website  The UCAS code name and number for this University is READG R12. Find out more about applying through UCAS
