Number of students:

We currently have around 40 students from Kenya studying at the University each year.

Societies and clubs:

Alongside a wide range of interest based societies, there are several international student societies within Reading University Students' Union (RUSU) including an Afro-Caribbean Society. You can find out more about the societies here.

There is also a group for international students at Reading called International Students at Reading University who have a facebook group as well as the active Reading East African Society which arranges regular social events and discussions.

Reading International Office has recently designed a Facebook page specifically for students from Africa to connect with the University of Reading. Please come and join us!

Entry Requirements

The level at which you can start your study at the University of Reading depends on what level of qualification you have completed currently.

International Foundation Programme

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) enables students that don"t have qualifications equivalent to British A-levels to access undergraduate university degree courses. If your highest level of qualification is the Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or iGCSE, it is likely that you will need to complete this Programme before you can study for a degree. 

The IFP will provide you with the academic training, language and study skills to start your undergraduate studies with knowledge and confidence and will prepare you for undergraduate study in three ways: by providing academic training in three subjects by developing your English language abilities by enabling you to acquire the study and life skills which you will need on your degree programme.

English Language Requirements

The minimum English language levels for courses at the University of Reading are IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (paper) 570, TOEFL (internet) 88. Some courses require higher levels - you should always check with the department or faculty you are applying to. For more detailed information see the English Language requirement page. 

We offer courses that will help prepare you for study in the UK, including English language as well as study skills to help your prepare for our degree programmes. 

Applications and funding

How to apply

All undergraduate applications must be made through the UCAS website. The UCAS code name and number for this University is READG R12. Find out more about applying through UCAS
