We currently have around 550 students from China studying at the University each year.

Societies and clubs:

Alongside a wide range of interest based societies, there is a Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) within Reading University Students' Union (RUSU). You will also find information about other societies on offer at the University at the above link.

There is also a group for international students at Reading called International Students at Reading University (ISRU) who have a facebook page: www.facebook.com/RUSUnews.

International Foundation Programme

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) enables students that don't have qualifications equivalent to British A-levels to access undergraduate university degree courses. If your highest level of qualification is the Senior High School Graduation Examination or Gau Kau, it is likely that you will need to complete this Programme before you can study for a degree. The IFP will provide you with the academic training, language and study skills to start your undergraduate studies with knowledge and confidence and will prepare you for undergraduate study in three ways:
  • by providing academic training in three subjects
  • by developing your English language abilities
  • by enabling you to acquire the study and life skills which you will need on your degree programme.

English Language Requirements

The minimum English language levels for courses at the University of Reading are IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (paper) 570, TOEFL (internet) 88. Some courses require higher levels - you should always check with the department or faculty you are applying to. For more detailed information see the English Language requirement page.  

We offer courses that will help prepare you for study in the UKincluding English language as well as study skills to help your prepare for our degree programmes.

Applications and funding

How to apply

All undergraduate applications must be made through the UCAS website.  The UCAS code name and number for this University is READG R12.  Find out more about applying through UCAS

Postgraduate applications should be made directly to the University. More information on applying for postgraduate courses is available here.
